Congratulations on your first visit
Brethren,
Our gift of time is a commodity in which we have the choice to decide how to invest it. A quick AI definition of time is: “the continuous passage of moments, from what has happened (past) to what is happening now (present) and what will happen (future).” Our Craft has taught us to divide our time into three parts: a part for the service of God and a distressed worthy Brother, a part of our usual vocations, and a part for refreshment and sleep. I wonder how often do we take the time to review how we invest our time?
Do we even take the time to assess how we invest our time during the day or at some point during the week? As J.R.R. Tolkien writes in The Fellowship of the Ring, “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” And there it is. We have the power…the choice on how to invest our time. I would encourage each of us to regularly schedule a time to review how we invest our time and then…take the time to look at how we spend it. The dividend of what we make on our investment of time could be most empowering…because we can always adjust how we spend that investment. All of us play a part in our investment in time with our great Fraternity. Our past experiences and relationships counsel us in making our plans for the present…and in doing so, we navigate towards our future. Truly, when we gather together, each with our own strengths, we become a powerful light of inspiration.
Thank you to the brethren who so amply invested their time preparing for us to be together during the fabulous dinner feast and the first boisterous fraternal visit on February 3rd…and yes, the wedding anniversary celebration of Carol and mine. Thank you to those who were able join us in person and in spirit. I remain overwhelmed in pride for our District and for our great Fraternity. As the inspirational coach Michael Altshuler comments, “The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot.”
Thank you all for your gift of time and deciding, what are we here after?
Cordially & fraternally,
Right Worshipful Peter Webster Ham
